World Theatre Day
Open Call
Be part of World Theatre Day 2026 and join a global celebration of the transformative power of theatre. AITA/IATA is creating a collaborative video featuring voices, movements, and performances from around the world—and we would love to include yours.
We invite you to send a short video (up to 10 seconds) responding to one simple question:
How has amateur theatre changed your life?
You can speak in any language, using up to 2 sentences, and please provide a written transcription in English, French, or Spanish. Your contribution doesn’t have to only include spoken text, it can include movement, visual storytelling, or puppet performances, as long as the message can be understood across cultures. Creativity is encouraged.
All submitted videos will be woven together into one collective message from AITA/IATA members and followers worldwide.
Video guidelines
- Maximum length: 10 seconds
- Maximum: 2 sentences
- Format: MP4, good image and sound quality
- Language: any, with a written translation in English, French, or Spanish
- Content: your answer to “How has theatre changed your life?”
Submit your video on the link below.
Deadline: 28 February 2026
By submitting your video, you agree that AITA/IATA may edit it for length if necessary, without changing its original meaning. Contributors are responsible for the accuracy of the written translation. Hate speech or discriminatory content will not be accepted. Please note that videos which do not meet the required quality standards (clear image and sound) will not be included in the final video.
Call for articles
We warmly invite all our members, followers, and friends in the amateur theatre community to contribute to our ongoing AITA publications at the AITA website.
Does your group have an inspiring project, creative initiative, or meaningful reflection on amateur theatre? We would love to hear from it. By sharing your experiences and insights, you help highlight the richness, diversity, and dedication of amateur theatre around the world—and inspire others within our global community.
We welcome ready-written articles as well as ideas for potential contributions. Articles may be written in any of the three official AITA/IATA languages.
Please send your articles or proposals to secretariat@aitaiata.net.
We look forward to showcasing your work and celebrating amateur theatre together.

Dialogue & Call for ACT.ION
What do you think about starting a courageous dialogue together with like-minded people, without shying away from emotionality or innovation? Respect should be our attitude today, in response to the polemical discourse that has become increasingly widespread in our society. Let us approach the issues of our time with mutual goodwill!
As a responsible citizen, you feel obliged to contribute your point of view to the current debate on social developments. As an educator, you listen to the concerns and questions of young people. As a human being, you have a strong desire to help your fellow human beings. Let’s start a process together that meets all these requirements!
How do we want to live?
Who decides what? And for whom?
What do we need to change? What do we hold on to?
What do we need to achieve?
